Hi there.

I'm Dr. Sam Scarnato.

I'm a Pediatric Functional Nutrition Mental Health Practitioner and Mom.

I help parents understand what's underneath their child's symptoms, so they can stop guessing and finally create meaningful, lasting change.

You’ve Tried Talk Therapy. Your Child Still Struggles.

How you got here

Most parents arrive here feeling confused, overwhelmed, and unsure of what to do next. You’ve worked hard. You’ve tried talk therapy, behavior programs, maybe even parent trainings; yet, the meltdowns, anxiety, or physical symptoms keep coming back.

You’re not imagining it.
You’re not failing.
And your child isn’t "just being difficult.”

The symptoms are all connected, and they are messengers.

Why Your Child’s Symptoms Haven’t Improved Yet

  • Big emotions, attention problems, irritability, or impulsivity
  • Anxiety, overwhelm, or shutdowns
  • Frequent stomachaches or headaches
  • Trouble falling or staying asleep
  • Constipation or digestive issues
  • Day or nighttime wetting accidents

These symptoms are often connected to underlying imbalances in the body, especially in the gut, nervous system, and stress response. When we address those systems, which isn't typical of traditional talk therapy, behavior, emotional regulation, and physical discomfort can naturally improve.

When Talk Therapy Isn’t Enough, You Need a Whole‑Child Lens

Most families come to Belief in Joy after months or years of trying traditional talk therapy without meaningful change. What makes my approach different is the way I look at the whole picture:

  • Behavior, emotions, and body-based symptoms considered together
  • A child's biology is viewed alongside their environment and daily rhythms
  • Parents are supported as active participants, not passive observers

This is where families finally get answers, and where kids start to feel better in ways that last.

PARENT‑LED SUPPORT WHEN TALK THERAPY hasn't helped

When therapy hasn’t led to lasting change, it’s often not because parents didn’t try hard enough.

It’s because important pieces of the picture were addressed in isolation.

I work with parents to understand what’s underneath their child’s mood, behavior, and physical symptoms, so they can stop guessing and move forward with clarity.

Many parents choose to start with a short training where I walk through this whole‑child framework and explain how these pieces fit together.
